Along with the Marco Polo and Azores, the Magellan cruise ship operates as an ‘adult friendly’ ship and appeals mainly to the over 50's category.
Magellan is newly refitted in the traditional and elegant style of the cruise line and sails under the name of Cruise and Maritime Voyages.
Able to comfortably hold over 1,200 guests, Magellan is one of the larger ships operated by the line and consists of 9 passenger decks. Because of this the ship has a fantastic feeling of spaciousness and with vast wooden decks, there is always a nook or cranny to get away from it all, lie back, and enjoy the sunshine.
As the cruise line’s flagship, Magellan can safely boast its facilities and amenities – there is a host of entertainment available for passengers to enjoy while sailing from port to port.
The Wellness Centre offers an enormous range of spa treatments for passengers to pick and choose from, essentially designing their ideal spa day. Work up a sweat in the gym or couple your spa days with a few lengths in one of the two outdoor swimming pools or merely a dip in one of three whirlpools and you’ve created a day of pure body and spirit harmony.
For those guests who enjoy less energetic activities, the Magellan CMV Club Class, located within the wonderful ships library, offers a great distraction through the art of card and bridge games. Here, you will be paired up with like-minded passengers in a fun and relaxing atmosphere.
There are guests speakers available – generally, these are scheduled during days at sea to ensure that all passengers are around to enjoy them – to give passionate talks on their subject matter of interest. Select cruises also feature ‘An Audience With…’ where guest speakers and performers elucidate on their lives, loves and losses – with time for audience questions.
Selected cruises will offer ‘A Laugh on the Ocean Waves’, a comedy club which has been birthed following huge success from comedic guest acts.
After a tasty evening meal, relax with a drink in the comfortable Show Lounge, where resident and guest entertainment acts complement talented musicians to create a night worth remembering!

Bars and Restaurants
Magellan has two main restaurants, the Waldorf or Kinsington, which offer a formal dining experience complete with maitre’d and waiting staff, while a more casual dining option involves the Raffles Bistro, which is buffet style for breakfast, lunch and dinner – ideal for those who don’t like sticking to set dining times! Al fresco meals can also be taken – weather dependent! – on the Pool Deck for breakfast and lunch. Where ever you dine, Cruise and Maritime Voyages offer delicious, freshly made meals.
Lounges found on the Magellan Deck offer fantastic panoramic views, while the Captain’s Club – a stylish meeting point – is highly popular for pre-dinner drinks and music.
It is exciting times for the cruise industry. Not only is the market gaining a lot of momentum especially in the run up to spring and summer when the majority of cruises take place but there is also a massive influx of people now taking cruises that would never have considered this option before.
This is partly down to the increased awareness of these holidays and also the fact that they are becoming more affordable to the average consumer and Cruise and Maritime are putting themselves right at the front of this vitalised market.
The first liner to sail under the Cruise and Maritime Voyages name is the 22,000grt Marco Polo which holds over 800 passengers (820 to be exact) and has already been receiving fantastic reviews from those who have sailed on it.
The Magellan is the newest ship to join the Cruise and Maritime fleet and it can accommodate over 1200 passengers. Both ships are being marketed as adult only vessels to some extent with the news that they will only be available to those aged 16 and over.

Cruise and Maritime achieves great customer Satisfaction
Last year 95% of the passengers who sailed with Cruise and Maritime rated their service and the overall enjoyment of their cruise holiday as either good or excellent and this is quite a feat in today’s world.
CMS will be operating all year round to provide ‘no fly’ sailings from the UK and these will operate directly from Tilbury, Hull, Newcastle, Greenock, Liverpool and Edinburgh.
The summer calender will see cruises depart to Scandinavia, the Baltic & Russia, Canary Islands and also the Mediterranean and Iceland too so there will be a wide range of variety on offer for many potential holidaymakers.
The cruise industry itself is on the up and the re-branding and marketing of CMS means that they will be putting themselves in a great position to capitalize on this growing market and expand their client base as well.
