Princess Cruises latest ship MS Royal Princess has been christened in Southampton by Her Royal Highness The Duchess of Cambridge and will now embark upon its maiden voyage on the 16th June. Royal Princess offers passengers some exciting new features at sea as well as maintaining the class, elegance and relaxed atmosphere of the Princess fleet.

Royal Princess Naming Ceremony

Royal Princess is able to hold 3,600 passengers and 1200 crew, and boasts balconies on around 80% of her staterooms. Every outside stateroom has a balcony, which is sure to attract many passengers who enjoy the freedom of having private, outdoor space.

SeaWalk is an exciting new feature which consists of a glass bottomed structure cantilevered over the side of the ship on the top deck, extending 28 feet out beyond the edge of the ship. It is a walkway on the starboard side and a bar on the port side offering passengers stunning views out to sea or of ports of call.

Royal Princess has expanded public areas such as The Sanctuary Bar, the central Piazza atrium and the popular movie theatre. The Piazza atrium is the biggest at sea and gives passengers that much sought after feeling of space on board.

The new liner also features golf simulators, a portable batting cage, laser shooting range, tennis courts, art exhibitions, enrichment programmes, libraries, shops and one of the largest adults-only escapes at sea in the form of The Sanctuary.

This spa hosts a range of guest favourites in order to offer a full relaxation programme. The Sanctuary also features new Couple’s Villas where couples can relax together and enjoy spa treatments. There is also The Enclave at Lotus Spa, which is a thermal suite which offers relaxing treatments and appears to be the ultimate escape on board.

Royal Princess is also offering more for children and teens on board. There are new indoor play structures, a mini air hockey table, arts and crafts, outdoor games, and TVs to keep little ones entertained. For teenagers there will be a lounge area with video games, foosball, a wading pool and space for open air parties. There’s definitely something to keep kids of every age entertained.

There are more dining options on board Royal Princess than any of the other Princess ships. Royal Princess offers traditional fixed dining, anytime dining and signature venues such as Sterling Steakhouse, Crown Grill Sabatini’s Italian Trattoria.

Sabatinis

There is also set to be a fondue dining option, which seems to be something quite unique at sea. There will also be a new approach to the chef’s table concept – Chef’s Table Lumiere. An executive chef will cook and explain techniques to an exclusive group of passengers.

There are many venues for passengers to enjoy themselves in the evening on board. Bellini Bar is a sophisticated space whereas Crooners Lounge boasts a more laid back atmosphere and regular live music. There is also a nightclub on board where passengers can dance away into the wee small hours.
