P & O’s cruise ship, the Oceana, was first launched in 2000. It is a mid-sized ship that accommodates over 2,000 passengers. The atmosphere is welcoming and family-friendly. During the summer, the bulk of the passengers are parents with their children as well as a young adult crowd. In the winter, you will find more couples with their average age being in the late 50s.

Onboard

The P&O Oceana has four decks and its most striking feature is the beautiful atrium. The ship overall has a contemporary feel to it that attracts both first-time cruisers and seasoned travellers. The restaurants, bars, lounges, and shopping areas flow effortlessly throughout the entire ship. This provides an informal atmosphere that is conducive to easy socialising among the guests.

There are a number of choices when it comes to entertainment from dance lessons to cooking demonstrations and various lectures. The Starlights lounge offers big production shows, cabaret acts, and stand up comics. Live music can be found on the lowest level of the atrium as well as in the Explorer’s Bar. The ship also has an excellent library and shopping opportunities, two theatres, a disco called Yacht & Compass, and the cozy Magnum. There is also a wide range of deck bars throughout the ship.

The Oceana has four swimming pools and six whirlpools. There is also a sport court and a golf simulator that are located near the Oasis Spa. The spa is equipped well with fitness equipment and offers exercise classes and massages. There is a beauty salon, a sauna, and several treatment rooms.

Dining

Passengers will find a number of choices for dining while onboard the Oceana. The two main restaurants, the Ligurian and the Adriatic offer both fixed dining times and the freedom to dine when the mood suits. There are more restaurant choices, including two restaurants that require reservations. At the Horizon Grill, you can dine on deck and enjoy the view.

Cabins

There are 975 cabins on the Oceana from which to choose and 600 of those have outside views with 450 having private balconies. There are seven pricing levels for cabins, making it simple for passengers on any budget to find one to their liking.

The Oceana has three levels of mini-suites that have both a shower and a whirlpool bath. There are two televisions in each mini-suite along with a table and reclining chairs on the balconies. The large deluxe suites are all on the stern and their balconies look over the ship’s wake.
